Hukk It

No, I’m not trying to tell you off. If you are not familiar with hukkster you can go ahead and thank me later.  Hukkster is a free shopping tool that tracks products online for users and notifies them via email, text message, etc, when those products go on sale or when a coupon code or promotion is applicable. (Full disclosure I copied that description word for word from Wikipedia).  You install a hukk it button on your browser just like you would a Pin it button.  I am constantly coveting new items, but I want a deal.  I hukk clothes, shoes, kitchen appliances, and toys.

So get out there, start hukking. You can thank me for your savings later.  And if you have a favorite thing or want to contribute to my blog, let me know!

I Dream of Jeans

There was a point in time where shopping for new jeans was as much fun as bathing suit shopping. In case you can’t hear my sarcasm, they both sucked. Bathing suit shopping still sucks but jean shopping has become a great experience. You probably have your favorite brand of jeans. I honestly wear more than one brand but I’m very partial to J Brand.  I had heard from friends about the J Brand Outlet near downtown.  Almost two years ago I made my first trek with my friend.  We were skeptical.  Jean shopping in an outlet now that could be a disastrous combination.   We were elated with our experience. It was like we walked into jean heaven.  We went early on a weekday morning when there was no crowd. It is easy to get to right off the 10 Freeway and there is parking right in front.   The guys that worked there were beyond helpful and honest too.  The answer is “Yes those do make your butt look big but try these instead.”  Their opinion and knowledge of the jeans left me with 4 new pairs of jeans and no buyer’s remorse. By the way I bought all 4 pairs for less than 1 pair at retail.  I’ve been back a few more times and always left with a pair or two of jeans that become part of my daily uniform.  If you are thinking to yourself there is no way I’ll ever make it there or I don’t even live in the LA area fret not, they ship all over the country. So if you know your favorite cut and size email them –  info@jbrandfactoryoutlet.com

Knead Me

I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. Not to make you barf but every day is Valentine’s Day for me (lol).  However, I did use Valentine’s Day to score a deal at one of my favorite places, The Massage Place.  I love getting massages.  I’m definitely the person who goes in for a cheap manicure/pedicure and comes out with a $100 receipt because I continually say yes when asked if I want 5 minutes more.  The point of telling you this is that I love massages so much I’m willing to even get one when seated in a spa pedicure chair with my right hand contorted across my left because the woman doesn’t have enough room to come to my right side.  If only I could control myself and realize I’d be so much better off if I stuck to the mani/pedi and left the massaging to the experts.

Speaking of experts, I frequent the Massage Place Pacific Palisades location but prior to their opening I’d go to Montana Ave.  I’ve been getting massages at the Massage Place for years now.  It is convenient, affordable, and I’ve never been disappointed.  I like deep tissue/sports massages.  Oswaldo and Ash are my go tos but in all honesty I’ve never had a bad experience. The hours are great – my favorite time to go is Sunday night at 8pm.  There are no spa like frills but if you want a great massage this is the place. I would be shocked if you didn’t find a therapist or too you love.

Regardless of what you feel about Valentine’s Day, heart yourself and take advantage of the special 3 1-hour massages for $126. If that is too scary of a commitment then buy a single massage for $47 (gratuity not included). I promise the ~$65 you spend (massage + tip) will be worth it and much more satisfying then the $1/minute charged by the nail salon.
